Do I need to bring anything?

No, you don’t need to bring anything but yourself to the session. Just come as you are.

Do I need a diagnosis to attend counselling?

Not at all. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to benefit from therapy. Life can bring challenges, emotional ups and downs, or moments where we feel stuck or want to understand ourselves better. You might want to explore patterns of behaviour, talk through worries or painful memories, or simply have a safe space to be heard.

Counselling is for everyone, whether or not you’ve received a diagnosis. If you have one, that’s absolutely fine too. And if I ever feel I’m not the right person to support you, I’ll do my best to guide you to someone who is.

Will you tell me what to do?
No. I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to support your self-exploration and help you gain clarity about the changes you want to make. I’ll walk alongside you, offering insight and reflection, but never direction or judgement.

How many sessions will I need?
That varies from person to person. Some clients come for a handful of sessions; others stay for longer-term support. We’ll regularly review our work together to make sure it's meeting your needs. If you have particular circumstances—such as financial pressures, work commitments, or family responsibilities—we can work together to find a schedule that fits.

You’re free to end counselling whenever you feel ready, though I recommend a closing session to reflect and bring closure to the work we’ve done.

Can I pay for a block of sessions?
Yes, you're welcome to pay for a set number of sessions in advance if that’s your preference. Just let me know, and we can arrange that together.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?

That’s completely normal. Many people feel unsure or anxious before their first session, and we won’t have known each other very long. You're not alone in that, and we can talk about whatever you're feeling, at your own pace. There’s no pressure to open up more than you're comfortable with.
