A space to pause, reflect and reconnect.
Life's challenges can sometimes leave us feeling lost, stuck or disconnected from ourselves. Counselling offers the opportunity to slow down, explore what you're experiencing and begin to understand yourself with greater compassion.
At Cahya Counselling, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Every person's journey is unique, which is why I offer a pluralistic approach tailored to your individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
The meaning behind Cahya.
Cahya is the Indonesian word for "light."
I chose this name because I believe that even in life's most difficult moments, there is the possibility of hope, growth and reconnection.
The butterfly within my logo represents transformation. The darker edges acknowledge the challenges and experiences that shape us, while the colours reflect the many different parts that make us who we are.
Counselling is not about becoming someone different or erasing your past. It is about understanding your story, embracing all parts of yourself and rediscovering the strengths and possibilities within you.

FAQ's
How much does counselling cost?
Sessions are £50 for 50 minutes.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes, I work with clients across the UK online using Google Meet.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, you don’t need to bring anything but yourself to the session. Just come as you are.
Do I need a diagnosis to attend counselling?
Not at all. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to benefit from therapy. Life can bring challenges, emotional ups and downs, or moments where we feel stuck or want to understand ourselves better. You might want to explore patterns of behaviour, talk through worries or painful memories, or simply have a safe space to be heard.
Counselling is for everyone, whether or not you’ve received a diagnosis. If you have one, that’s absolutely fine. You don’t have to come for what might be labelled as a “sad reason”, you might just want to gain awareness for yourself or understand the changes you’d like to make more.
Will you tell me what to do?
No. I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to support your self-exploration and help you gain clarity about the changes you want to make. I’ll walk alongside you, offering insight and reflection, but never direction or judgement. And if I ever feel I’m not the right person to support you, I’ll do my best to guide you to someone who is.
How many sessions will I need?
That varies from person to person. Some clients come for a handful of sessions; others stay for longer-term support. We’ll regularly review our work together to make sure it's meeting your needs. If you have particular circumstances—such as financial pressures, work commitments, or family responsibilities—we can work together to find a schedule that fits.
You’re free to end counselling whenever you feel ready, though I recommend a closing session to reflect and bring closure to the work we’ve done.
Can I pay for a block of sessions?
Yes, you're welcome to pay for a set number of sessions in advance if that’s your preference. Just let me know, and we can arrange that together.
What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
That’s completely normal. Many people feel unsure or anxious before their first session, and we won’t have known each other very long. You're not alone in that, and we can talk about whatever you're feeling, at your own pace. There’s no pressure to open up more than you're comfortable with.
Ready to take the first step?
Seeking support can feel like a big step, but you don't have to do it alone.
If you're looking for counselling in Stockton-on-Tees or online, I'd be honoured to support you as you begin your journey towards healing, growth and rediscovering your light.
